Velika tragedija pogodila je Bejrut, a danas traju veliki napori da se pronađu desetine ljudi nestalih ispod ruševina.
Poslednji snimak objavljen na društevnim mrežama prikazuje akciju spasavanja muškarca koji je bio zarobljen pod ruševinama čitavih 16 sati.

U jezivoj eksploziji uskladištenog amonijum nitrata u luci u Bejrutu poginulo je, prema dosadašnjim podacima 135 osoba, a oko 5.000 ih je povređeno.
